9 bolt.....2.77 to 3.27's.....Gas Mileage Increase/Decrease?

Hey all,

I'm changing my gears from 2.77's to 3.27's in the IROC......any anyone done this and made a note of a change in mileage? Even though I am going with a lower rear, I am thinking I will see an increase around town because the car seems to struggle when it goes into lockup mode. Any comments or experience is appreciated!

You will lose highway mileage because the motor will be revving at a higher rpm due to the higher reduction gear being used.

With this swap:

Gas mileage = definite decrease (worse)

Fun = definite increase (better)

I think the increase in fun will far outweigh the small loss of gas mileage.

Dose anyone have window stickers that might show a difference?
