9 Bolt query

Got a 9 bolt disc rear in my next project. Is it worth beefing up over a 10 bolt that i have laying around? It will need to handle about 450 hp. Also i know parts are hard to find. Is 9bolt.com the only supplier?

Not to rain on your parade but if you start beating on either the 9 bolt or 10 bolt with that power, its going to break sooner rather than later. You should look into a aftermarket rear for our cars for that power...or a dana 44 if you can find one reasonably cheap.

I beg to differ. Alot of people have been beating on 9 bolts without a problem. As long as it is set up properly and you still have good cone gap, I think everything is good to go.

Yes but its still a 7 3/4 rear at the end of the day. Ive heard of people setting them up and getting 400 to the wheels with them but im pretty sure there is not too much "beating" involved. A 9 bolt is certainly stronger than a 10 bolt by design but not by too much. I stand by what i said. If hes going to be putting that kind of power to the ground he can run a 9 bolt but he has to be prepared for it to break if he launches hard and hooks up. If hes running it on the street with street tires and traction problems then it will probably hold up for awhile longer. Once slicks and dragracing are brought in he can say goodbye to it eventually.

Re: 9 Bolt query

the best bang for your buck would be a stud girdle from TA Performance.

I run my 9 bolt hard and i launch on spray with slicks. Im running 11s in the qtr. so ill guess 300hp + 75 shot of spray. I havent had any problems thus far.

but my new combo that im building will see more hp and spray, so a 9" moser is on the to get list

I still think that the Moser 12 bolt is the best way to go, but that's just my opinion. Prices start at $2220.
