Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to cars, and I don't have much knowledge of them yet. I was wondering, I see people saying they manually shift with a 700R4. I have an '83 Berlinetta 5.0l 4-bbl Camaro, it's automatice, and from my knowledge, arent the auto tranny's 700R4's? I was also wondering, if I wanted to race, would I be able to just use the numbers under the drive to shift while I'm moving? I appreciate any help I could get from you guys, you've been great so far.

Yes, you can the numbers to shift, but it would probably better to let the tranny shift for itself. As for weather or not its a 700R4, I can't remeber when they started using them. Check the tech section.
