I just got my Probuilt Thrusday and put it in that night. This tranny kicks a$$. Its shifts smooth under light loads, but when you hammer it it frys the tires on the 1-2 shift. IMHO this is a great tranny and Dana the guy that owns Probuilt is great to deal with and very knowlegable. Besides, with a Probuilt the tranny is built like you want it.

Yes, I do 2004R's also. They are a little more complicated, but respond very well to the upgrades I add to them. By the way they are a little quicker & faster in the quarter mile than the 700R4. The same torque converters are available for the 2004R as for the 700R4. Cost to build these transmissions are the same as the 700R4.

I carry complete units, the street/strip 700R4 outright is $1395.00 w/one year warranty. Shipping is about $130.00 to Florida.

If you sent me the core it would take off only $125.00, it cost that to send it across country. If you had a Corvette then it might be worth the extra cost to send it.

What are the specifics on your street/strip 700r4? What kind of power is it rated to handle?

My tranny has just bit the dust so I need to do something soon. I may be going with a set of fastburn heads and a HOTcam kit in the future and be making around 430-440 hp with 400ish ft-lb of torque, do I need a better tranny than your Street/Strip? (if so how much $$$) Currently I've got a Vortec headed 350 making 350+ hp and ft-lbs, which apparently was enough to slaughter the standard rebuilt 700r4 I put behind it within a year... What would you recommend?

The street/strip trans with the right torque converter (9.5"-10" diameter) will hold up to about 550-575 horsepower.

Yes, to use the lockup torque converter we use the GM vacuum switch to achieve lockup w/o the cumputer.
