4-speed Tranny shift point

With a stock 4-speed tranny, what the ideal shift point? I have been shifting between 2000-2500rpm, and those who sometimes ride with me say I'm shifting at the wrong time....I'm not sure if I'm shifting wrong and is I'm, when to shift

Re: 4-speed Tranny shift point

Just so long as your engine isn't lugging after the upshift, it hardly matters. If you're running a stock 305, just upshift by 5000 rpm, although holding first to 5500 shouldn't be a problem, as long as you don't hold it there for more than a second. But it'll be out of breath up there.

OK, I don't plan on going that high on the tach. Thanks for the advice.
