I drive an 88 IROC-Z with an automatic 700R4 and still running the original 2.73 gears. I put out 260 ft/lbs. or torque and run 0-60 in 7.9 seconds. I don't have any need to take my car over 80 mph as I only do highway and backroad driving. What gears should I change to for a more powerful launch but wont kill me as I hit higher speeds? Should I go to a 4.56 or something smaller like a 3.73 and how much difference will bigger gears make? One last question....does anybody know if my car came with a stock posi-track rear end? I'm just a kid in highschool who wants to be able to say he's got the quickest car on the lot.

 

i would suggest 3.73's in it.it probably has a limited slip rear end in it,just look back and make sure both tires are spinning,that's the easy way to do it.later
