a NEW problem with my GTA.....

I finally got my GTA back on the road after a year-long hiatus, during which I drained the tranny fluid and replaced the filter, among other things. I initailly refilled the tranny with B+M tranny fluid. A friend warned me not to use it because he said it made his 700R4 in his IROC act funny. I used it anyway, and sure enough the tranny wasn't shifting at the right points and didn't want to transfer the torque to the wheels. I quickly drained that fluid and relaced it with good old Dexron/Mercon III fluid, filling it to about a quart shy of where it was supposed to be. I then took it out for a quick test drive to make sure that's what the problem was, and the car ran beautifully, no prblems whatsoever.

This morning I got the car out again to take for a spin and now I've got a problem. It seems to shift first to second fine, but it wont shift to 3rd. It seems to let go of 2nd like it wants to shift, but never grabs 3rd, it's just like it's in neutral. It has reverse, and if I keep in 1 or 2, it's fine, but if I put it in D or OD it'll go through first and second but just rev freely when it lets go of 2nd to get 3rd. I added the missing quart of tranny fluid that I left out, but that didn't help. The car only has about 30 miles on it since I got it running again from being down all year (bad ecm). I ran it about 25 miles with the B+M fluid in it and about 5 miles with the other fluid in it a quart low while it ran great.

Anyone have any idea where the problem could lie? The tranny was rebuilt with a level 10 rebuid kit and a transgo shift kit about 2-3 years ago, which wasn't more than 15,000 miles ago. The tranny absolutely kicked *** before the car was down last year, and seemed fine yesterday when the I refilled with the Dexron/Mercon fluid. What gives?

(The car is an 88 GTA, L98, 700R4)

Have you tired adjusting the TV cable? Search for it and some detailed instructions will come up.

If it is making the 1-2 shift at normal times as well as making the 2-neutral at normal times then you lost the 3/4 clutch pack.
