tranny fine except reverse
I have a 91 formula WS6 with a T-5. The car has 19,500 ACTUAL miles on it. I got it a few months ago from a guy that had been storing it.
The transmission seems to be flawless except that may a third of the time, when I try to shift into reverse after starting up the car, the tranny will either not shift into reverse (feels like when 2 is blocked on a T-56 with skip-shift) OR it will shift into reverse but it grinds on the way.
Generally, the longer I wait before shifting into reverse after starting the car, the less likely this is to happen. However, it has happened a couple times after I have been driving. (and if I had known about this before I bought the car, it would not have even factored into my decision--I love that car!)
Any ideas as to what the problem is?
