yeah when i really stomp it i feel this big thump. im thinkin tranny mount but havnt had a chance to get under there and check it out. any other ideas?

 

I had the same problem, it was the tranny mount. Took about 30 minutes to change and the problem went away. Check older postings, there's a number referencing the problem with some suggestions about installing the poly mount.

 

Ill second the trans mount.

can you physically see it broke or how do you tell? does the rubber just pull in two or what?

 

You may be able to see it, then again, you may not. When mine broke, it was a very clean split. One way is to put the car up on jackstands, or ramps. Then, jack the tranny up slightly and look at the mount. If it's broke, you'll notice it right off. The ideal thing to use is a transmission jack or a floor jack, at worst a bottle jack or screw jack will work. However, if you use anything but the tranny jack, be careful not to crush or break anything - use a block of wood. A stock replacement cost less than $10, but most folks go with the poly type, about $25. Check out the tech article on the main board outlining how to change the mount. It took me about 30 minutes to do it. It ain't so bad a thing to do. Good Luck

 

i had the same problem, I put a new tranny mount in and it still clunked, turned out that all that clunking screwed up my rear right shock so that had to be replaced.
