My tcc stoped locking up in my 88 TBI firebird so i followed the tech artice on making a switch to connect the a and f terminals (two upper most right and left ones) and when I activate the switch my gauge panel blows a fuse and the tcc does not lock up. Is the aldl diffrent on my car which is causing the fuse to blow and is there another way to wire up a tcc lockup control I would like to have manual contol with out having to drop the pan or raise the car. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the solinoid is bad, probably why it stopped working in the first place. You'll have to drop the pan.

You are talking about two different transmissions. Start by finding out what the trouble codes are.

What do you mean we are talking about two diffrent transmissions? Can I replace the solinoid without droping the pan? I checked and there are no trouble codes set.

Yea thats my other vehicle, I looked at some old post and saw that a swith on my brake may be the cause of my problems but I tested it and when the brake is depressed the voltage goes to zero and when the pedal is not depressed then there is 12 to the purple wire. So where do I go from here? I have a tranny cooler on my car so will this still build up too much heat with it not locking? how hard is it to replace the TCC solinoid and how is it accomplished?

In my opinion if you have supplied 12 volts directly to the proper terminal of the lock up soliniod and it blew a fuse then the soliniod is grounded and needs to be replaced. Just remove the pan and filter, the sloiniod is towards the front and is held in place with two bolts, remove it and take it to a trans shop for proper ID for a new one, should be around $35. Need a drain pan, 3/8 ratchet, 3" extension, 13mm and 10mm sockets, plus a jack and jackstands. If you use ramps block the rear wheels good because removing the linkage bracket from the two pan bolts can knock it into neutral. Also need about 5 to 6 quarts of fluid and a new filter would be wise.
