Where should I shift for power without damage ?

The story is I took my dad for a ride and he wanted to see what my car would do. I have an auto tranny (still only 2.73's with an L03 305) so shifted it myself. I ran the RPM's up to about 4200 in first gear and my dad about had a heart attack. He couldn't believe I would let it go for so long before shifting. According to my tac I can go to 4500 and it goes orange, true redline at 5000. I am wondering how many RPM's I can run it to and not have to worry about damage to the engine and stay in the power band or how far anybody usually lets it go in different gears before they shift? Thanks, Justin.

Chances are that it was starting to level off in power already. You can REV higher BUT you will not have POWER. Follow me on this?

You can see in the tech data in this site
that your motor makes peak HP @ 4400rpm.
This is a good point to shift at for Max acceleration.
