clicking or popping while pushing clutch Help!

I seem to be getting a hit-miss noise that is getting progressively louder and a heavier feel in the clutch pedal. When I depress the pedal, about 1/4 of the way down I hear a "pop" that sounds metallic. I thought it could have been the slave cylinder, but I changed it, and it still does the exact same thing with the new one. Is there something that wears out on the world class t5 with the lever that goes into the tranny? Hoping somebody has an idea before I get stranded. thanks!

Where do you hear this noise? Is it under the dash or does it sound like it's in the bellhousing/clutch area?

It could be as simple as a sloppy pedal catching and popping on something as you push it. Or, it could be related to the release fork or bearing or the pressure plate itself. I think it's pretty unlikely that it is in the hydraulic system itself. It sounds "mechanical" to me.
