Is the t-5 or t-56 clutch better?

I am most likely going to purchase a new manual transmission. I have a choice on going to an aftermarket t-56 that uses my stock hydraulics and clutch or a 4th gen t-56 with the pull type clutch. IS there any advantage to either??? Grip?? Durability? cost?

The T5 clutch is better, because it is a standard NO BS push type clutch. I never had ANY trouble with it. The T5 is another matter.

The T56 clutch is a ROYAL pain in the *** . I haven't gotten mine working yet, damn thing simply won't disengage all the way. The tranny is a much better/bigger/stronger tranny however.

Yes, but if I buy the aftermarket t-56 I can use my t-5 clutch.

I don't know which is better, but
i do know that GM Hi tech had problems with their t-56 clutch, and then had a little box that said "Why is it so hard to make a t-56 clutch"

If you go with the after market you need to get a McLeod special clutch, it is 10.95 (Still bolts to the stock flywheel) as opposed to to the stock 10.4. The pull type is 11.00, But to answer your question YES you can use the T-5 with the after market.
