It wont get past second gear why? is it time for a new tranny?
I have a 1989 2.8 maro that wont get past the second gear. The rpm goes up but it wont change gears. Is the speed sensor bad or do i need a rebuilt. Also what kind of transmission would i have. I recently swapped the ecm, might this have something to do with. The check engine light is not on. Thanks for any help.

the transmission you have is a 700r4 and sorry to say but the speed sensor doesnt control shifts in that model it does sound like your trans is bad may i suggest looking into performabuilt.com tell them you heard of them on here and see what they have to offer
