Ford T5 question
Will a T5 from a 4 cylinder Mustang work with a 8 cylinder Mustang?
A friend would like to know.

I think it would physically bolt up but you'd have to change the pilot bearing. I THINK they were different.
I'd go to corral or stangnet and post there to get a more accurate answer

1983 Z28, NO T-tops, (unfortunately) Auto Transmission (hopefully not for long)

My guess is the gear ratios are a lot steeper in the 4 cylinder trans. they would do this to compensate for lack of torque.

I have heard of it being done, you have to swap bell housings, and the gear ratios are different. I would also asume the 4 cyls didnt get the WC t-5, so it may not hold up behind the V8.

OK, thanks. He got the trans for $100 and thought he would install it until he could afford the Tremac. I told him to wait and now he has this dilemma.
