Downshifting when wanting to accelerate...
Whenever I want to accelerate, I usually just floor it, then the computer tells the tranny to downshift (automatic apparently). Some other times I like to downshift it myself, then floor it.
1. Which of the following ways will you get you accelerating quicker?
a)Just floor it.
b)Having part throttle, then downshifting "manually", and then flooring it.
c)Taking foot off throttle, then downshifting "manually", and then flooring it.
d)Flooring it, and then downshifting "manually" (before auto does it for you).
2. Which of the choices that are above are worse for the transmission?
3. How do you like to accelerate, from the choices above? If you have another way of accelerating please tell.
the best way for the tranny in this case happens to be the best case to go "faster" than normal....Just barely have your foot on the throttle so that the tranny line pressure is up (meaning the necessary fluid for high rpm's is there) drop it in whatever gear it is you want and then FLOOR IT! If you have your foot completly off of the throttle then down shift...thats not good b/c there is no adequate line pressure or fluid circulating the tranny. Don't forget the TV cable is the "door" between the throttle and line pressure.
