Yes. The only difference is the slightly larger ring and pinion of the 7 5/8". Everything else is the same.

GM upgraded to 7 5/8" somewhere in the late 80's. The diffs are still called 7 1/2" 10 bolts.

I'm not an f-body expert, but I know in the S-series trucks the 7.5" had 26 spline axles, and the 7.625" has 28 spline axles. Knowing GM, I'm sure the f-body is probably the same.

 

No. F-body didn't go to 28 spline until 90. The 7 5/8" was offered just before that.

Just did some quick research. The 7.5" was dropped in all Camaros , probably Firebirds also, in 1985 for the larger 7 5/8".
