Drving with lower Gears you make less RPMS ?

if i install 2.73 on my car at 60mph will i make less RPMs if i drivin a 3:73 ?

yeah, it will make about 20-30 percent fewer rpm.
but it will not be as fast off the line.

Driving with numerically lower gears, yes. 3.73's are lower than 2.73's.

so my iroc is factory equipped with 2.73, os if i want ot put 3.42 in i would jus have to buy the gears and installation kit not a new carrier right?

2.73 and 3.42 have a different carrier.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

you can get 3.42s and lower in the 2 series, i'd rather just get series 3 and add posi.
