manually shifting a 700R4???

ive got an r4 behind a stout 383 and at the strip when in drive it shifts at 3700. as you can guess this is not good for low et's. can i adjust the shift rpm up to about 5200rpm or do i just have to shift it manually. also will manually shifting it have any adverse effects.

You can adjust the way it shifts, but you'll have to play around with the governor. Also look at similar posts about shifting and follow transfixleo's method for adjusting the tv cable. Or you can manually shift as well, which I do. But be careful with a stock shifter not to slide into N.
