quick governor question

the gear on my governor is chewed up, so i'm gonna replace it tomorrow. What is the gear it meshes with made of? Is it a metal gear or plastic? Since my governor gear was chewed, do i need to pull the tailshaft and replace the other one as well?

It is steel. Make sure you get the gear for the 700R4 & not the TH350. Otherwise you will be back in the same boat once you back out of the driveway (first & reverse only)

whew...that saves me the headache of pulling the tailshaft.

I'm gonna actually grab a few governors out of 700r4's in a junkyard tomorrow so i have spare stuff. Never have this stuff when i need it. Do the governors vary at all by year of 700r4?

thanks pro-built

They vary by application, from the size of the weights to the tension of the springs.
