9-bolt to 4th gen 10-bolt swap

Will 9-bolt disc brake parts bolt up to the 10-bolt 4th gen rear? I read somewhere that they wont. I'm about to buy a 4th gen rear because my 2nd 9-bolt is about to die.

Why not just put a new posi carrier in your 9 bolt? It is much stronger than a 10 bolt (3rd or 4th gen).

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 posi carriers for sale for 9 bolts )

Rebuilding this 9-bolt sounds expensive to me. I don't know what I need and I don't have the know-how on rebuilding it. I'd love to keep the 9-bolt but this thing is making nasty sounds and busting one-leggers half the time. It just seems less expensive to find another one ...but if you can point me in the right direction I'll rebuild it.

It is more expensive to rebuild the 9 bolt vs buying a 10 bolt, but the 9 bolt (3rd gen hi-perf option) is much stronger than the 10 bolt. A new series 3 posi carrier for a 9 bolt is ~445 (which is comparible to a heavy duty 10 bolt carrier).

Nope the 9 bolt ones wont bolt up, might be able to redrill the backing plates, not sure, why not buy a whole 4th gen rear ? usually yards only want around 400 for the complete thing with brakes, email me if your going to be selling your stock brakes

I really dont know what I'm going to do. Guess I'll wait for this one to die then put my old 2.77 back in until I get up enough money to buy something decent.
