700R to T5

Hey, this is my first post on this board. I recently put a 350 in front of my 700R4 without rebuilding the tranny. We knew the tranny wouldnt last all that long behind the 350, and we were right, it is starting to slip pretty hard during shifts. Anyway, I really want to swap to a standard tranny, probably the T5. I plan on swapping to heads which should put me to about 350HP, and probably somewhere in that range for TQ too. So first question, will the T5 handle that? Second question, I think I should just buy a T5 from a junkyard and rebuild it, my dad who will help me has rebuilt quite a few manual's so it shouldnt be a problem to do, but how much should I expect to pay for one? And will I need a new tranny mount, etc? Thanks.

ok!!!!!!! your 700r must have been screwed before the swap. these trans will hold up to a lot. Trust me i know, i put mine to work a lot. The T-5 is not a good idea. They cant handle the power. I swapped one in and it wasnt good. i pulled it out 6 months later. If u had a stock 350 and didnt plan on mods then id say ok put the T-5 in but dont push it. TRUST ME!!!!!!! if u want a manual go T56!
