Does this mean my rear is damaged?

I was leaving a parking lot today and nailed it. I got a little bit sideways and got straight again quick. When it hit second gear the tires spun hard and i heard like a grinding sound coming from the back of the car. Any ideas?

I doubt it's a good thing...keep a good ear on it for any unusual noises such as whining, bearing huming, clunking when going into gear, etc. If it's not making it I wouldn't worry too much. Could of just been tire rubage or some suspension bindage if you were getting a little squirely. If it still is, could be numerous things....broken ring/pinion, spider gears, bears, etc. If you're really concerned, pull the diff. cover & look for excessive metal residue or pieces of gear. They're always fun to find!

Hey, being that you're right around the corner from me, what autoparts store is the quote referring to, so I don't go there!
