POS T5
ok, i have a 87 iroc with a l98 350. The motor has been built and is cranking 350 hp.
Now, I have the original t5 that came in the car. My 3rd gear has been rebuilt like 3 times. What is wrong with it.
Im gonna rip it out and I want to go with T-56 or a muncie M-20.
What do you recomend for a Iroc?
When I rip out my T-5 how much do you think I can get for it?

Re: POS T5
The rollers in the back of the maindrive (input) support the pilot end of the mainshaft poorly.
When the front end of the mainshaft isn't supported, the 3rd speed gear and countershaft gear aren't held stable to each other and break teeth.
There were a few Ford models with a tapered roller bearing at the input / mainshaft. It is a mod that can be done on a GM input and mainshaft.

Re: POS T5
This is a well known problem Either get a LT1 T56 or contact gforce or astro and get them to upgrade the T5
