Speedo screwy after manual to auto swap!

So i bought a 91 Z28 TPI a few weeks ago and the previous owner had recently converted the trans from manual to 700r4 auto and said that the speedometer just needs a new electronic vehicle speed sensor installed for it to work properly. Well, i put one in and still the speedo goes haywire reading 0 mph or 180 mpg and sometimes fluxuates randomly inbetween. Any ideas on what to check?

Also, the car shifts quickly into second (probably around 5 mph) and he said that the speed governor was set aggressively for performance. Since the car already has a B&M shifter i'd prefer to shift it manually when i'm looking for that, and with all the rush hour traffic i see it's pretty irritating for it to shift that quickly. So where is the govenor located and how difficult would it be to make the adjustment?

Thanks much!

sounds more like a valve body/computer problem causing you to shift that suddenly. i would take it to a tranny shop and have it adjusted, tho i dont know a lot about trannies that is what it was with my car. i just felt sorry cuz nobody smarter than me has posted yet. good luck.
