Anyone have the aftermarket T-56?
I am going to buy an aftermarket T-56 but need to know your experiences. Does the shifter come through the stock hole? Any other problems? Transmission tunnel clearance probs? Thanks

Also, South East Thirdgen's tech article on the T56 swap says you'll have to cut out a hole in the transmission tunnel for the shifter on a regular T56, but I've never heard of anybody having to do that, so I wonder if he was talking about the aftermarket T56. Can someone verify this?

The shifter on the aftermarket T-56 lines right up with the T-5 hole. It fits in the tunnel just fine.

Okay, so what about a regular T56? Does it fit the shifter hole fine without modification? Like I said, I've only seen that in the SE Thirdgen tech article, and no one else has said anything about it.

No, you have to extend the T5 hole back about an inch for the production T56... at least, I had to.

Is it true that you can use the aftermarket T56 with a lakewood scattershield #15015 and mechanical linkage clutch?I can swear I read this somewhere but cant seem to find it anymore.I am interested because I happen to have both of these in my car and this would really simplify my swap from the 4 speed to 6.Any help appreciated!!

Yes, according to the Sallee Chevy website posted above, you can use that scattershield and linkage.
