moser torque arm bracket failure
i called moser to see if they had any failures and whatnot. i was told im abusing my car? thought thats what it was for.
high hp, heavy car, and a shitty weld.
good thing i broke my center section, or i would have had more trouble in the next few passes.

you can see its shiny, no rust after a week of being off the car.
driveshaft yoke also took a hit.
i havent had the driveshaft out in 30 passes. the splines are twisted so bad i had to beat it out of the tranny with a hammer.
it will not full seat into the transmission anymore.
need to sell the car and build something light.

looks like a bad weld to me. your puttin sumthing like that on a nine inch or 12bolt you have to know people are using slicks with manual trans. or a trans brake, so how do they justify calling it abuse
hope mine doesnt do that

Re: moser torque arm bracket failure
they have changed the bracket over the last couple of years to a once piece cast unit.
i was told for faster production.
i dont know how i feel about a cast iron piece. seems it would just crack in the middle.
anyone have pics of the new bracket?

dont have a pic, but its a very heavy thick piece, i think the torqre arm would break before the cast piece does.

We made the one that was welded until about 8 years ago. Which is when we went to the cast piece. To my knowledge we have not had a cast one break. So this broken one here is at least 8 years old. Stage 20, Call and talk to Rocky and I will have him help you with the new cast one.

Re: moser torque arm bracket failure
OK, I am glad to hear that it is taken care of.
When we first started making these brackets we were mostly selling to 3rd gen cars w/o the LT1 or LS1 swaps. The design was sufficient for what was out there. Still, I think there has only been just a few problems with this welded design. When we started selling a lot of rearends to the 4th gen crowd with 6 speeds, we needed something to handle that torque. It made sense then to do the cast one because of both production time to weld one together and strength.
