87 10 bolt drum to an 89 9 bolt disc...

I'm just trying to be clear on everything I need here.

From what I understand, I'm good to go except for the master cylinder? I just need a 4 wheel disc master cylinder correct?

Will my old e-brake cable work, or will I need a 9 bolt e-brake cable? What's the difference?

Anything else I'm forgetting? Thanks!

No need to change the master:

For best brake performance, however, you'll need to swap the proportioning valve. And, of course, you may need to change the drive and/or driven gears to make the speedo read correctly.

Ah... I see! Does the prop valve need to come from a Chevy dealer?

Any idea about the ebrake cable?

Thanks again.

Try the classifieds or the following site for the valve:

Drum cables won't fit. I assume on an 89, you'll have 11.7" rotors and PBR calipers. This latter is the set-up (J65) you should buy for.

Changes required for the 9-bolt swap...
1) Proportioning valve for the 9-bolt (master cylinder dose not require changing).
2) The parking brake cables for the 9-Bolt (old 10-bolt cables will NOT work).
3) Flaring tool for brake lines ( may be different). Was for me.

Did this swap nine years ago.
