What size torque converter?
i am taking my car into the shop to fix it because i am at my wits end as to what is wrong with it and whileit isthere i am also repacing my stock torque converter. the car is a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am with a fresh 350 that i had put in hooked to a 700R4. i was looking at a 2400 stall torque converter to match up to my engine and was looking for imput as to what size to get. the engine puts out 320hp at the crank, 249 to the wheels. cam is a .515 intake, .530 exh. any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Re: What size torque converter?
Your only option is a 12" stock style core. Look for something with internal brazing and roller bearings for strenth and less friction. You couldn't use a 10 inch and get the stall that low. If you want more details you can PM me. I have some ready to ship as well.

Re: What size torque converter?
So what would be a good streetable converter then? I'd like to stay under 2800ish if possible. My powerband is 1800-6k which is why I was thinking 2400 would be a good stall speed.

Re: What size torque converter?
A 12" 2400 stall is a great match for a powerband like that. I have been there, done that, and I tried both a 12" 2400 and a 10" 3000, the 12" 2400 was far better to live with.
