TV cable adjustment ASAP!

I had a new transmission installed in my 84 Bird. the standard one, not an upgraded one, just a regular one. I was told that if my car starts to do different things since i got the new one, that didnt happen in the old one, to check the tv cable. the new things that happen: When cold, will not shift past second, sometimes not past first unless i can get it to open the four barrels and get on it, which is sucking gas. it just bogs down and wants to die. every couple of days i realize that it doesnt wanna shift. just goes and goes and then after it shifts from 2-3 will not go into drive, or overdrive. im worried im burning it up, which i probably am, so ASAP its the only car i have. im off school for the next few days, so i left campus to come home so i have a place to work on it. any help is appreciated

Re: TV cable adjustment ASAP!

that is the best and correct way to do it. READ IT CAREFULLY!!!!
ive done this to my car as well as my dads 86TA works the best.

dont forget when checking full throttle in adjusting the cable to make sure that the "gas" pedal rotates the TB to FULL throttle (TB lever hits the TB STOP) if you set the TV cable for full throttle at the TB (hands rotate the Throttle lever) and then the gas pedal doesnt rotate as much... u got PROBLEMS!

really only 2 things u can do.
1.) u get lucky and your gas pedal makes the TB lever to all the way around till it hits the stop and u call it a day.

2.) it doesnt make a full rotation, u fix the gas pedal (some how) so it makes a complete rotation or u push the TV cable all the way inside the bracket and just adjust the TV with the gas pedal.

That "other silver cable" can be only one of 2 other cables. 1.) it is the throttle cable(connects the TB to your gas pedal) 2.) it is the cruize control cable that connects to the cruize control device on the driver fender well.
I would just adjust it with the gas pedal so the pedal adjusts the TV since thats "full throttle" to u when driving. then test drive. if the shifts are off etc the site i gave u will tell you wat the issues are and how to fix them. unless your me and your problem isnt one of the ones they mention

Re: TV cable adjustment ASAP!

just fyi also od will not engage if your wide open throttle. meaning if your down the high way and u floor it. it will kickdown to third gear its normal. one you get halfway off the throttle it will kick back in 4th gear.

this is true... unless youve modded the trans before. i have the B&M dowshift valve which replaces the stocker and allows 2/3's throttle before kicking down from 4th to 3rd. allows me to cruize at higher speeds. but i also have the instructions to moddify the stock valve for full wide open shifts! really u just pipe thread plug the holes... this was standard one the BC4 or B4C cop cars i believe. if its stock then its roughly 50% before the downshift
