Parts will basically be the same as a T5, except you'll want an aftermarket bellhousing since the T10 won't be rotated.

This site was posted recently http://fiedlerh.home.att.net/BW.htm

An 83 or 84 fbody setup would probably be the simplest, but might be hard to find. If you stick with a hyd activated clutch fork like in the T5, you may have an easier time.

Many of the 5 and 6 speed units are overdrive transmissions.. Not sure what you mean by "useless"? If the engine isn't powerful enough, or the vehicle too heavy, you'll need alot of speed to use the overdrive gears. They are not meant to be used under power, but allow you to use more agressive gears in the rear, and still cruise on the highway at resonable RPMs.
