Rear end question

I got a rear end of a 3rd gen firebird years ago. But other than it is a 3:73 gear with disc brakes I know nothing about it. I found a identification number on the housing which is #22522676. Can anyone provide any info on it for me, or direct me to a link that would provide info for me.
Thanks!

No info of the number, but the following FAQ should provide some useful info:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-10-bolts.html

BTW, should the rear end be OE, it probably came from an 83-86 L69, the 305 HO car (Vin G).

Re: Rear end question

2HD = 1986 2.73 open diff. If it has 3.73 and a posi then it's not original. A previous owner could can changed anything. The only way to know for sure what's in the diff is to pull the cover and have a look.

Can anyone share a picture of each (inside the rear cover), limited slip and non limited slip? I'm in the process of buying one and don't want to run into the same problem. Thanks

Re: Rear end question

If the tires turn in opposite directions you have an open rear, or a posi that needs rebuilt.
