S60 street/strip spool?

I have a very promising new body for the engine/trans of my old car. After thinking about it, I am considering a rear end swap while i am at it. I have heard nothing but good things about the S60, other than it sucks up a few more ponies than the 12 bolt or Ford 9".
I am looking for other members experiences with driving a spool S60 on the street. Is it too much on the axles? I am leaning towards the 35 spline axles, MAYBE the 40. Depends on what people say.

FWIW, a street driven spool will always be a compromise.. If you're serious about a true street/strip car, look at the TruTrac differential.. I've seen them continue to pull posi with one wheel on pavement and one off track in the dirt. Truly an amazing diff...

Re: S60 street/strip spool?

The 60 actually uses less power and is lighter than a 9 inch Ford. I would use a Detroit Locker over a spool any day. A spool is dangerous on the street. It stresses parts to much. I have seen broken wheels, studs and axles from using a spool on the street. 35 spline axles should be enough.

Re: S60 street/strip spool?

35 spline are standard for S60's. go locker over the spool for street/strip use. I have one and it works great.

Re: S60 street/strip spool?

Are you running a 454 or 506? I dont think you will need 40 spline axels for any street driven small block. Try this site to get correct spline number, not only that the higher # of splines the more hp/torque u loose. http://www.moserengineering.com/Pages/axletech.html
