I didn't. Simply leave the TCC plug unhooked. Everything ran just fine.

Now after I swapped to 5 speed I learned to burn chips and there is a "switch" in the program that says auto vs 5 speed. I couldn't tell any differance. I believe it affects the torque converter lock up. Also there are some subtle things you may wish to change like idle speed etc. But all that is more for modifying the engine and not what tranny is behind it.

BTW if you like manual transmissions you'll love making this swap. There are a lot of threads on the subject. Look them up and get the items you'll need prior to starting. It's not a difficult changover if you're up to things like that. One word of advice. You can't abuse the stock T5 a lot. If you are making serious power or beat the snot out of it- it won't last long. I drove fairly easy with no power shifts and only occasional trips to the drag strip and it lasted about 1 1/2 years. After that I went with an aftermarket TKO 600. Great tranny but a fair amount of work to get it in. You can also use the T56 6-speed out of later models or get the retro-fit T56. G-force transmissions offers beefed up T5's that are supposed to last a lot longer. Either way expect to spend about $3k to get a really strong trans in there later.

Hey I belive you are going to need the brake boost from the maual to run the slave cylinder. the clutch and brake pedles. and the mounting bracet. so you should check in to those things.

Nope, The brake booster is the same auto vs manual

Correct.

I found a RS V8 camaro that was being parted out and got it all in one purchase. Yes, you will need the pedals and brackets, clutch master and reservior, flywheel/clutch assmy, bellhousing, slave cylinder, clutch fork, tranny (of course!) shifter and torque arm bracket. There is a bit of re-wiring under the console if you want to retain the neutral lock out feature and the reverse light switch is in the manual trans not on the shifter. I reused my crossmember and driveshaft. There should be a cut out in your carpet/insulation pad that will help you position the clutch slave. That is probably the trickiest part of the install.

BTW one oddity I found was the electric hatch release will only work when the clutch is pushed in. I traced the wiring for a day trying to figure out why the hatch release wouldn't work then accidentally found the answer!
