is there a difference between 3rd gen and 4th gen rear ends, or will a 4th gen rear bolt right in?

Re: rear end??

4th gen diff will bolt right in but it's slightly wider. There's no strength difference between a fourth gen diff and the 10 bolt that should be in your 91. If you do have a 9 bolt under your car, it's not original.

Re: rear end??

i know that the 9 bolt isnt stock but right now i have wheel spacers on it to fit my tires, and would like to put a wider rear in so can get rid of the wheel spacers......

which would be stronger though the 9 bolt with the wheel spacers, or a 10 bolt?
