It sounds like a Honda when I am backing up. It is only when in gear. Definitely the transmission. Is this normal?

Yes, this is 100% normal. It "whines" because the reverse gear is straight cut, every other gear in the transmission is helically cut at an angle to reduce noise.

My transmission whines in every gear because they are all straight cut but it certainly didn't come from the factory that way

Thanks Primetime91. It sounded a little off beat to me seeing that my T-5 is stock. It has been bothering me for a while now. That's what I needed to hear. Next time I will do a before I ask a common question.
