T5 noise

My T5 tranny is whining in Neutral with the clutch released and when clutch is pressed down, it turns into a chattering sound. Could this be the throw-out bearing? It also whines in 1-2-3, but I hear that's pretty normal.

Re: T5 noise

You normally hear some noise from a t-5 in neutral but only if you are listening for it. I'm not sure just how much whining you are hearing. However, when you push the clutch in there should not be any "chattering". My guess would be the throw out bearing.

Re: T5 noise

when was the last time you checked or change the trans fluid???

My T5 made noise in 3rd for a long time, many years.

Then one day it got stuck in 4th and would not come out.
Had to drive home in 4th only. Sounds hard ehy?

Nope cause I thought I got it fixed and it then got stuck in 5th.

Now startin off from a dead stop in 5th to get home was H-A-R-D
but it can be done.

Re: T5 noise

Yeah, my T5 sounds like an 8-71 supercharger in neutral. It's pretty loud and not normal.
