Trick Shift

So ive been hearing about this trick shift tranny fluid by b&m and it claims to give firmer shifts. But ive also heard its made only for ford trannys. Has anyone used this?? Is there anything else you would recommend for better performance?? Additives??

Re: Trick Shift

I've used it. Other than price and color, I don't know of any differences. I've trashed one transmission while using it and two without all chevy thm350. The B&M was blue I thought it was harder to get a good read on it for fluid wear and level. Felt like I had to keep B&M in it after using it because i didn't want to mix fluids and colors. If anyone knows any positives let me know because I have six quarts on the shelf. Can it be mixed?

Re: Trick Shift

This goes back to the day when asbestos was still used in clutches. That was back in 1977-1978, when type "F" fluid was being used. DO NOT use B&M Trick Shift, as it is Ford type "F" fluid with their additives. Stay with a good quality Dexron III, or the later Dexron VI fluid. I have talked about this many times in the past, and there are no advantages to doing this, only negatives.

Re: Trick Shift

Lubegard or MT-10 are ok, but in general, they are not needed. A good quality fluid and a HD transmission cooler are all that are needed in most cases.

Re: Trick Shift

Dana, or others,

What brands are recommended as being a good quality Dexron III or IV?

Re: Trick Shift

As afr as Dexron III, Mobil, AC Delco, Chevron Dello, are the better ones. As for the synthetics, Amsoil is the best.

Is this based on your teardowns of transmissions that used it throughout there lifespan, or just amsoil marketing?
