700r4 issues

86 z28 stock was 305, swapped to a 350 mildly rebuilt and .60 over. I was having problems with tranny before shift kit install, waiting too long to shift etc. installed shift kit hoping this would solve problem. Now first gear will go to 6500 rpms, and wont shift til i let off at 6500. second gear feels like its slipping? i live in midwest and it feels like the wheels are breaking loose on top of ice in second gear. but they are not. nice hard shift into third. anybody have any help for me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 700r4 issues

Adjust the detent cable. Read my post below. You kight have to shove the detent cable forward thru the bracket.

Re: 700r4 issues

ok did this cable all the way in and cable all the way out( small adjustments at a time) and it doesn't seem to make a difference....any other ideas or maybe bracket is not the correct distance from the tv bubble on carb linkages
a. Push in the Adjust Tab and retract the Slider in the direction shown in Figure 3.
b. Without allowing the Slider to move, pull the cable until it stops and measure from the mounting bracket to the cable end. Add 3/16" to this measurement and that will determine the ADJUSTER MOUNTING POINT distance at full throttle (WOT).
c. Also note in Figure 2 that the distance from the throttle shaft to the cable end is referenced. This distance must be between 1 7/64" and 1 1/8"! The cable end mounting point should follow a 78° arc between closed throttle and WOT in order to achieve the proper amount of pull on the cable.

i used this figure and the first measurement is 4 11/16" so my WOT should be 5" from bracket, but mine is 5 3/4" could this be the issue and if so how do i correct this?.......thanks
