Re: two bolt or three bolt tailshaft

i assumed it was TBI because i asked him if it was TPI and he said no.
i was going to take the TV cable bracket off the car if it was.
i guess that means it was carbed then.

i ended up swapping the tailshaft.
the "new" trans had a cover on the main shaft that looked like it was pressed on after the speedo gear.
i wasnt able to remove it, but i swapped the driven gears in the tail shafts so i will at least have the same gear ratio in the trans that it came with.

i will look up the gear ratios i need and maybe swap the driven gear if i need to but does anyone know what the cover i am talking about is?
I couldnt pull it off and it wasnt threaded that i could tell and i didnt want to bugger it up.

Sounds like an Astro van/S10 transmission.

Re: two bolt or three bolt tailshaft

hmm.
well either way, i now have the speedo gears set up and the tailshafts swapped over.
my ratio is off by exactly 1.25 if i am correct.
i think the new trans was set up for a 26" tired car with 2.73 rear gears, it has blue drive and driven gears.
so it looks like i need a ratio adapter, because to get it correct, i would need a 48 tooth driven gear... or a different drive gear, which i cannot seem to be able to remove.

any ideas?
