700R4 shift into OD too soon?
I have a 700r4 in my 86 Iroc and was just curious on some knowledge. It feels like my OD comes in real early. it has been shifting throughout the gears real quick and finally into OD around 30-32mph when i drive around normally. is that a little early? i figured it would need to be around 40? is that adjustable with that TV cable on the throttle linkage? or is it fine the way it is now? thanks for all the help on here!

Im willing to guess its the TV cable. Mine was shifting into OD too soon also. I re-adjusted the tv cable and it works great now!

forgot to add.. if it was the cable.. to make it shift later, would you take slack or give out slack on the adjuster? thanks for the answer!!

Until you set it up properly you shouldnt be "fine tuning" it with a click here and there.
To set it up:
-Press the D button and push the adjuster as far to the firewall as possible.
-Rotate the thing that the throttle cable waps around on on the TB to WOT and you should hear a click.
Take it for a drive, and then fine tune it from there with either a click in or out.

i dont have a carb, so im not sure if it will make a difference, but id like to guess it doesnt. basically the tv cable needs to be tight at WOT.
There are tons of sites and threads on here about adjusting the tv cable for car or fi.
