TH350 Vacuum help needed.
Ok I've read that if you have a manual valve body you can just plug off the vacuum on the tranny. On my car, the vacuum hose is just hanging. I'm not sure exactly what has been done to my tranny but I know it has a shift kit and it will shift by itself or can be shifted manually. If it had a manual valve body it wouldn't shift automatically right? I'm just wondering if I can plug my vacuum hose or if I need to hook it to the manifold. Can somebody help me out here?

Re: TH350 Vacuum help needed.
Doesn't seem to, but that's just from driving it around the block several times. I've only took it out on the highway once and I was having problems with it not wanting to go into 3rd. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but the car sat up for a long time and at first it wasn't wanting to shift at all.
I just took it down the road a few mins ago and it shifted from 1st to second fine from what I can tell.

You must run the vacuum modulator if you want the transmission to shift correctly and have the transmission live. Running a TH350 or TH400 without the vacuum modulator is very hard on the front pump and sealing rings.

You probably just think you have a shift kit, because without the modulator, they kind of bang/lurch into gear.

a manual valve body wouldn't shift itself ever, correct? you need the vac line. i run it to manifold vac on my truck.

I dunno, lol.
A manual vb will never shift unless you shift it, correct. However, there are manual upshift/downshift vb's, and also manual upshift/automatic downshift vb's.
