Does anybody know the correct driveshaft length after switching rearends over to a Moser 9"? I dont have my old shaft or a slip yoke to even measure. Any help would be great, thanks!

Re: driveshaft length after 9" swap?
Don't use my measurements as my car is highly modified. I use a 9" and a powerglide. To swap a 700R4 to a powerglide, the driveshaft needs to be lengthened 2.75". My engine and tranny are moved back at least an inch and my driveshaft length worked out to 44.5" long.
To be sure on the exact length required, you'll need to pick up a slip yoke and slide it all the way into the tranny then pull it out 1". Measure center to center on the u-joints for the driveshaft length. You'll also need a conversion u-joint at the diff depending on which yoke is on the 9". The steel GM driveshaft will use a 3R u-joint. The Ford yoke on the 9" could use a 1310, 1330 or an aftermarket 1350 u-joint. Any GM slip yoke will fit except one from a TH400.
Buying a new driveshaft will probably not include the slip yoke however to properly balance a driveshaft, a slip yoke is required.

Alright, thats kind of what I figured I would have to do anyways. So with a slip yoke pulled out an inch, to measure the length of the shaft the suspension needs to be fully loaded as the car was on all 4 tires on the ground, correct? Thanks

Re: driveshaft length after 9" swap?
The car doesn't necessarily need to be in 4 wheels. If jack stands are under the axle, the suspension is loaded. There will be an arc to the rear suspension travel so you just need to get it close. That's why you pull the tranny yoke out 1". It allows for any suspension movement with no chance of bottoming out inside the tranny.
I wouldn't take a measurement if jack stands were under the body and the axle was hanging down and supported by the extended shocks.

Used stock length here. Same aluminum shaft that came in my 88 GTA. I didn't measure if the yoke was shoved in further or came out. It's negligible if it did. It's fine. This after a 700r4 to T56 swap (standard bell/trans from a 95 donor) as well. All combos, no shaft change other than I think I swapped the rear ujoint to work with a 1330 yoke on the 9.
What ujoint does a 9 bolt yoke accept? I'm thinking 1310 or close?
