Will T5 tranny from a v6 work?

I've got an 86 T/A with a factory 305 and 5 speed tranny. I am needing to replace the T5 but the local salvage yards only have the T5 in cars with a V6. Will the V6 tranny bolt up to my V8 bellhousing or are the tranny totally different?

Welcome to TGO. Different spline count. You can make a V6 T-5 work with some money and parts, but personally, I'd find a V8 bolt-in. A search will provide you with more info.
