Reverse manual valve body??
Hi, I am wondering if I buy a reverse manual valve body, if I need to buy a shift kit as well? or if the reverse manual valve body IS the shift kit. Thanks

Re: Reverse manual valve body??
The manual valve body is the shift kit. The valve body is mechanically modified.
A manual valve body allows you to put the transmission in any gear. From a dead stop if you put it in 3, it will start in third gear and probably burn up the clutches. If you start off in first gear, the transmission will stay in first gear until you manually shift. You could red line the engine and it still won't upshift by itself. A manual valve body is intended as a race only item. The novelty of driving on the street and having to constantly shift gears in an automatic transmission wears off quickly. Forget to downshift from high gear all the way back to low at every stoplight a few times and you'll be putting new clutches in the transmission.
The reverse shift pattern changes the position of the forward gears.
Instead of PRN321, it's changed to PRN123. This means it's impossible to shift from high gear to neutral (or reverse) without slowing down and downshifting all the way back to first gear.
