323 gears
So what do you think 323 gears would do for my 1992 RS 305? I don't think it would be too much on the motor. I found one for $250, would you think it's a worth while investment?

My only real reservations are weather or not I'll have to modify the drive shaft and how to get my speedometer right.

You replace the plastic speedo gears in the tailshaft of the transmission for the speedo correction (available from 700R4.com), and there's no modding necessary to the driveshaft to change rear end gears - but it's not something you can do at home - you have to pay a shop to properly shim the new rear gears on install - takes precise micrometers and special tools.

Well the whole rear end is being sold as a complete unit, I'm not just changing the gears in the pumpkin. is that still a job for a shop?

That's what I thought I assume the most difficult part will be connecting it to the drive shaft, I always get nervous before undertaking a project I've never done before.

Re: 323 gears
my only question for the experts is, if i put a manual in my car with my 3:23 gears is there anything different i should expect? is it a good combo with the gears and manual transmission? Thanks

Re: 323 gears
Been running 3.23's with a 350HO Deluxe for several years. Good all-around city/highway gears, IMO.
