tranny cracking?

My son-in-law installed a 350 tranny in his 1983 chevy pkup. after a few weeks he noticed a crack in the tranny
that is in line with the bell housing. is there an adapter that he needs to install? not sure what year the engine or tranny is. just know that it is a 350 engineout of a suburban.??

Re: tranny cracking?

should be a direct bolt in....might have tranny slightly misaligned or stuck slightly on a dowl pin (if it has one). THe bolts could be overtightened, or maybe hit something in the road, or just really rough on trannys. A chevy pickup and a suburban have the same chassis, so everything should be exactly the same.

Re: tranny cracking?

Sorry, but this website is dedicated solely to the Third Generation F-Bodies (1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird).

You will most likely have better results with a website that is dedicated, or covers, the vehicle you're asking about.
