ok im currently running a crate 350 its the chevy 350/290, with an HSR custom cold air and a chip reprograming. not sure of the overall hp/tq ratings but im just wondering if you guys think the t5 will hold up to this application.

 

If you brutalize it, no. On the other hand, if you drive it as sedately as the grandpa that I am, yes--mine's endured for a number of years and I really don't expect it to fail.

Well since you have all the mods to your motor it sounds like your not going to baby the trans, so no it wont hold up for very long. I had a T5 and went to a T56 before I put my new motor is with another 150 or so ponies over my tired 305. The idea was if I put the new motor in and scatter the T5, the T5 isn't worth a dime. So............I swapped in the T56 and sold my T5 for $600. Was nice to put that money back in the bank to offset the cost of the T56.

Anyway just my worth of opinion.

 

well im seeing a bit of a compromize for myself. i want a manual but my income tax return went into everything i needed for the HSR and the 1500 i had saved over christmas went into getting the paint freshend up on my car. i could afford the 600(already looking at one) for the t5 and i think i could drive it nice for the summer(unless some cavi with a wing wants a piece(i just wont dump it and powershift)) and sell it once i get some more money saved for a t56 this winter. idk sounds like a plan to me. thanks guys
