10 bolt 7.5" carrier series 2 vs 3

How do I tell which carrier I have. I bought it used without gears from a friend.

Any markings I should look at or maybe you guys know of a measurment I can take ?

Thanks !!

I want to order some 4.10's and don't know which ones I need.

well you can count the number of teeth on the ring and I THINK divide it by number of teeth on pinion. That should give you a number. I believe the difference in carriers is defined in parts catalog by being 3.23 of numerically higher gear would be one type and 3.08 and lower would be the other. I think you divide the number though...if it comes out to be 2.73 3.08 3.23 3.42 then that's right, if it's way off try subtracting or multiplying them , but I'm sure it's divide.

These are 12 bold differential cases, but the situation is the same. From left to right is the 2,3 and 4 series. Set your differential on a table and measure from the table to the top of the ring gear mounting flange. A 2 series for the 7.5 will measure about 1.67 inches and a 3 series will measure about 1.97 inches.
