700r4 question about shifter characteristics....
So today I noticed something odd about my Camaro(mind you I have yet to drive it, as its a project) but I noticed while sitting in it, that my shifter doesn't behave like any I've seen before, I'm not sure if its just a trait of older cars, or 700r4s or RWD, or 3rd gen Camaros, or if it might have a shift kit. ...
Basically, I have to push the shift button to be able to go from park to reverse, and have to push it to get out of reverse and into OD, or neutral, which while in OD or neutral, it can go from one to the other without having to hit the button, as it stays depressed...whats strange is that when i pop it in first, I can shift all the way to neutral without having to hit the button, mind you, once it reaches OD its locked into just OD and neutral....anyone shed some light on this? I've only had 2 other cars, both newer, FWD, and with steering column shifters where I always had to pull the stick back to change gear...
